Opened on Saturday 3rd ,2021 as the first museum of its kind in Egypt and the Arab world commencing with the Predynastic period and ending with the Modern and Contemporary eras. NMEC is devoted to everything related to the Egyptian civilization with exquisite exhibitions such as; The Mummies Hall, culture shows and specialized workshops.
The Citadel Saladin is one of the most iconic monuments in Islamic Cairo, and among the most impressive defensive fortresses dating to the middle Ages. It includes the mosque of Mohamed Ali which is also known as the “Alabaster Mosque”, in reference to its marble paneling on its interior and exterior walls. The mosque’s twin minarets are the highest in all of Egypt, each reaching a height of 84 meters.
No visit to Cairo is Complete without a stop at the Khan El-Khalili bazaar, where you will be transported back in time to an old Arab souk. Shop owners calling you to their stalls, the scent of spices, the hustle and bustle of trade and much more.

The main inauguration was accompanied by the pharaohs’ golden parade of the royal mummies that were transferred from Cairo museum to NMEC in great nocturnal celebrations through Cairo streets. Then proceed to visit the citadel of Saladin which was the official residence of the rulers of Egypt till the mid-nineteenth century. It includes many monuments inside, however; the most spectacular one is the nineteenth century mosque of Mohamed Ali where your guide will lead you to explore its unique Turkish design and its highly decorated inner ceiling. And for your pleasure you will be transferred to have a walk around the medieval old Bazaar of Al- Khalili located in the heart of old Cairo.
